LUNO Mwanajando ("LUNO", "we", "us", or "our") operates the LUNO Driver mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Phone number, email address, and full name when you create an account.
- Contract Details: Vehicle plate number, contract duration, payment amounts, and start dates that you enter into the App.
- Payment Records: Payment amounts, mobile money transaction references (M-Pesa, Airtel Money), and submission dates.
- Maintenance Logs: Vehicle maintenance records you choose to log.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers for app functionality.
- Usage Data: App interaction data such as screens viewed and features used, to improve the App experience.
1.3 Camera Access
The App requests camera permission solely to scan payment receipts and mobile money SMS for automatic data entry. Images captured during scanning are processed on your device using text recognition and are NOT uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any server.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the LUNO App services
- Track your motorcycle ownership progress and payment history
- Calculate contract metrics (ownership percentage, days remaining, payment schedules)
- Send payment reminders and status notifications
- Generate financial reports at your request
- Improve the App experience and fix technical issues
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database platform with the following security measures:
- All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL
- Row Level Security (RLS) ensures you can only access your own data
- Database access requires authentication tokens
- Payment transaction references are stored but we do NOT store bank account numbers, PINs, or mobile money passwords
- Offline data is stored locally on your device and synced securely when internet is available
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing, such as generating a financial report for a bank or financial institution.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process under the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
- Service Providers: With trusted service providers (Supabase for database, Twilio for SMS verification) who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
5. Your Rights
Under the Tanzania Data Protection Act and applicable regulations, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data. You can delete your account directly from the App under Settings, or by contacting us
- Data Portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly used format
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent for data processing at any time
6. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time through the App (Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting us at the email below. When you delete your account:
- Your personal information will be permanently removed within 30 days
- Payment history and contract data will be anonymized for legal record-keeping requirements
- This action is irreversible
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, anonymized transaction records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by Tanzanian financial regulations.
8. Children's Privacy
The LUNO App is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
